Rusted Grain is the woodshop affiliated with ReUse Action, Inc. Because of our commitment to sustainability and to using the city as a materials resource, our focus is on using local, reclaimed wood. We do use new wood at times, but prefer using reclaimed and salvaged wood from what you bring us or what we get from ReUse Action’s green demo jobs to build furniture, cabinetry and any other commissioned pieces.
Working with “old” wood: Many woodworkers have told us we’re crazy to try and work with reclaimed wood because of the inconsistencies. While definitely true, we think this results in a custom product…each salvaged piece of wood has character, is unique and has a story!
Wood tracking: We love that reclaimed wood has a history. Was it pulled out of a barn in Angola? Did it come from a deconstruction project down the street? When possible, we attach the story to the wood used in your project so you can share the history of your WNY wood with friends and family.
Materials Processing: We are happy to give a new face to an old material. Whether you need your salvaged oak flooring replaned or you need denailing services, we’d be happy to assist you.
